How can you tell if you're training effectively?
You improve over time and reach your race goals.
Sounds simple enough but many runners perform way below their potential because they don't train efficiently.
I usually find 3 main types of training mistakes:
1. INSUFFICIENT BASE BY ELIMINATING JUNK MILES. Mitochondria, tissue oxygenation, micro-circulation, keto-genesis are all the name of the running game. All aerobic miles, however gentle, build the above so are contributing to your energy bank and will generate improvement.
2. OVER-TRAINING AND/OR UNDER-RECOVERY. Many believe that the formula for success is faster is better. However, it only takes a few too many races or fast workouts to find yourself in a vicious training cycle. i.e. training harder and racing slower.
3. WRONG WORKOUTS AT THE WRONG TIME. The whole idea of training is to be at your peak on the day that counts. That means that your weekly workouts need to be contributing to your fitness, not detracting from it. Can you tell the difference between a contributing workout and a detracting one before you do it?
